David H. DURR
David H. DURR was born @1819 in South Carolina
and died 24 Jan 1887 in Shelby Co., TX. He married
Paralee Allred, d/o
William Allred
& wife Lila, who was born @1820 in Tennessee and died 27 Jan 1887 in
Shelby Co., TX. They are buried in Good Hope Cemetery near Center, TX, along
with son, David Hilliard and daughters, Cynthia Ellen & Lucinda A.
"Belle". No record of their marriage has been found in LA or Alabama.
Living near David & Paralee in 1850 was her father, William Allred &
his wife Lila, and her siblings: Elizabeth (w/o Amos B. Fisher), James E.
Allred (h/o ? Carmichael), Aaron C. Allred (h/o M. Martha Clinton), Thomas J.
Allred, & Cavalier F. Allred. David first homesteaded then purchased 80
acres of land on the Sabine side of the Natchitoches/Sabine parish border in
9 Aug 1858 & the land was patented on 2 Apr 1860. This first tract of 80
acres of land is where the McCaskill Cemetery is located with forty acres
being where the cemetery now sits and the other 40 acres being across the
road. On 30 Nov 1885, they sold 160 acres of land including this tract and
some land in Natchitoches parish to Samuel F. & Lourania McCaskill for
$600 paid as $250 cash and balance due in notes to be paid 1 Jan 1887 &
1 Jan 1888. About this time David, Paralee, and son, David Hilliard, moved
to Shelby Co., TX where all died a few years later. There is no record of
them buying land in Shelby Co., TX.
