Louisa DURR

Louisa DURR, (d/o Michael D. DURR & Rebecker GASTON), b. @1844 in Natchitoches Pr., LA, d. 1867 in Natchitoches Pr., LA, bur. Beulah Methodist Church-Natchitoches Pr., LA. Louisia married 28 Sept 1858 in Natchitoches Pr., LA (2/9) Lewis COLTON, b. Sept 1827 in LA, d. 23 Feb 1903 in Sabine Pr., LA, bur. Sardis Cemetery-Sabine Pr., LA.

NOTE: I was given the name as being Cotton & it is typed that way in the Natchitoches Pr., LA courthouse. The handwritten copy could be Colton or Cotton. I am unable to find a Lewis/Louis Cotton on any of the census but I do find Louisa Colton age 17 with Louis Colton on the 1860 Sabine Pr., LA. I believe this is the correct person. Lewis Colton remarried about 1868 (according to the 1900 census they stayed married 32 years) to Amanda Whatley, widow of James Allen Fox. On the 1870 Sabine Pr., LA census Lewis and Amanda are shown with two children who by ages were probably the children of Louisa Durr. The death certificates for both of this daughters show Amanda Whatley as their mother but this is probably incorrect.

Children:

  1. Emma COLTON, b. Feb 1865 in Sabine Pr., LA, d. 13 Aug 1932 in Sabine Pr., LA. She married 27 Jan 1889 in Sabine Pr., LA, John H. TYLER, b. Mar 1848 in LA, d. 29 Mar 1916 in Sabine Pr., LA.
  2. Mary Ella COLTON, b. 21 Nov 1867 in Sabine Pr., LA, d. 13 Apr 1943 in Sabine Pr., LA, bur. Sardis Cemetery-Sabine Pr., LA. She married 24 Jul 1887 in Sabine Pr., LA, William Allen SHAW, b. 22 May 1847 in Missouri, d. 24 Dec 1929 in Sabine Pr., LA, bur. Sardis Cemetery-Sabine Pr., LA.
